KC Health Home Events

KC Health Home will be open to the public during the 2008 Spring Homes Tour sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City. The Spring Homes Tour starts on Sunday, May 4th and goes through Sunday, May 18th. The KC Health Home will be open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm daily during that time.

A visit to KC Health Home is intended to be a highly educational experience. There will be numerous opportunities to learn about the many features of KC Health Home. There will also be a wealth of printed materials available from vendors, suppliers, sponsors and associations affiliated with KC Health Home. Consider making time to visit the first-ever KC Health Home. You are sure to come away with a better awareness of this revolutionary type of new home construction and it may even inspire you to build a health house for you and your family.

KC Health Home Symposiums

H&S Covenant Homes will host a series of invitation-only educational events at the KC Health Home prior to the home’s public opening. These events are intended to spread awareness of this innovative home among three distinct groups of professionals. Each symposium will be held on site at the home and will feature a detailed education on the features and benefits of KC Health Home. Attendees will also hear from national experts from the medical, architectural and building science fields. »	Symposium #1
	The first symposium to be held on April 29th will be an invitation-only event for physicians in the field of asthma and allergies. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Jay Portnoy, President of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Dr. Portnoy is on staff at Childrens Mercy Hospital and is a recognized expert on the topic of indoor air environments. Pella Windows will be the title sponsor of this symposium. Pella’s Designer Series windows are featured in KC Health Home.
»	Symposium #2
	The second symposium will be held on April 30th and will specifically target the top real estate professionals in the Kansas City market. This is a natural group to educate on the topic of healthier homes because of the important role they play in the home buying process. Dianne Astry, National Director of American Lung Association’s Health House program, will serve as our keynote speaker for this event. M&I Bank will be the title sponsor of this symposium.
»	Symposium #3
	The third and final symposium will take place on May 1st and will be co-sponsored by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Concrete Promotional Group. The Kansas City chapter of AIA will offer continuing education credits to member architects who attend the event. Much like realtors, architects have a vested interest in learning about healthier and more energy and resource efficient home design. Concrete Promotional Group (CPG) is seeking to promote the home’s the use of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and the added benefits of concrete construction in healthy homes. Mike Collignon from the Portland Cement Association will serve as our guest speaker. Mr. Collignon is an expert in the field of green building the use of concrete as a green building tool.
